Veeam Agent for Windows must be licensed in order to operate with the Cloud Connect repository feature. If backups are being sent to a Webvault cloud destination, the agent must have a valid license installed.
If you require a new licensed installation of Veeam Agent for Windows, please follow this step-by-step guide:
👉 Veeam Agent Backup for Windows Installation Guide
This guide includes full instructions for downloading, installing, and configuring the agent to back up to Webvault’s Cloud Connect service.
If you already have Veeam Agent installed, you can update or apply a new license by downloading the Veeam Agent Licensing Module:
🔽 Download Veeam License Update ZIP
Download and extract the ZIP file to a folder on your Windows system.
Inside the extracted folder, locate the file named:
install-veeam-license.cmd
Right-click the file and choose Run as administrator.
⚠️ The script will not run correctly unless it is executed with administrative privileges.
The script output should indicate a successful installation of the license.
If any errors occur, please contact Webvault Support for assistance.
After running the installer, verify that your Veeam Agent is now licensed.
Open Veeam Agent:
From the system tray by right-clicking the Veeam Agent icon and choosing Control Panel, or
From the Windows Start Menu by searching for Veeam Agent.
Click the menu icon in the top-left corner and select About.
Under Version information, confirm that the agent is licensed:
For desktop systems, it will show Workstation edition.
For server systems, it will show Server edition.
If an update is available, you may click Download under the Update section to update the software.
If the agent is still not showing as licensed after following the steps above, contact Webvault Support to obtain a license file.
You can install it manually via:
Menu → About → Manage license and edition
Click Install license and select the license file provided by Webvault.
To ensure your Veeam Agent license stays current, you can automate the license update using Windows Task Scheduler.
Move the file install-veeam-license.cmd to a suitable, permanent location — for example:
C:\Scripts\install-veeam-license.cmd
Open Task Scheduler from the Windows Start menu.
In the Actions panel, click Create Task (not Basic Task).
On the General tab:
Enter a name, such as Veeam License Update.
Tick Run with highest privileges (this is essential so the script runs as administrator).
If your system is a server operating system you may need to choose the Run whether user is logged on or not option.
Specify a user account with administrator privileges under the Security Options Change User or Group.
On the Triggers tab:
Click New, choose Weekly, and set Recur every: 1 weeks.
Choose the day and time you’d like it to run (e.g., Mondays at 10 AM).
On the Actions tab:
Click New → Start a program.
In the Program/script box, browse to the saved script location:
C:\Scripts\install-veeam-license.cmd
Check the Conditions and Settings Tab matches your environment. Click OK to save the task.
To test, right-click your new task and choose Run. Verify the output shows a successful license installation.
⚠️ The script must always run with administrative privileges for the licensing process to complete successfully.
This scheduled task will automatically refresh your Veeam Agent license every one weeks, ensuring continued backup functionality with the Cloud Connect repository.
