To successfully establish and activate a Microsoft Teams Direct Routing service with Webvault, customers must complete the following prerequisites:
Create a new dedicated Global Admin account for Webvault’s use.
Webvault will enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) and utilize this account for configuring and managing the Direct Routing instance.
Do not use an existing GA account—Webvault will modify the username to align with the SBC Direct Routing domain.
Submit a list of users who require Microsoft Teams to make and receive business phone calls via Direct Routing.
Each user requiring Direct Routing must be correctly licensed:
A Microsoft 365 license that includes access to Microsoft Teams, such as:
Microsoft 365 Business Basic
Microsoft 365 Business Standard
Microsoft 365 Business Premium
Microsoft 365 E3
Microsoft 365 E5
A Microsoft Teams Phone Standard license (minimum) or Microsoft Teams Premium for call queues management and call history.
The Global Admin account (from step 1) also requires a temporary license to set up the environment (trial licenses are acceptable).
At least five (5) Microsoft Teams Resource Account licenses must be assigned to the tenancy (these are usually free).
Submit a list of phone numbers belonging to the organization that will be direct routed to Teams.
Identify main business numbers to be assigned to a Call Group or Auto Attendant.
Identify numbers to be assigned to individual users.
Ensure a sufficient quantity of numbers to:
Cover all active Teams Direct Routing users.
Assign numbers for each resource account linked to an Auto Attendant (if applicable).
Assign numbers to all Call Queues (groups of users receiving calls).
If the organization does not have enough numbers, request Webvault to issue a new series of numbers.
If migrating phone numbers from another carrier to Webvault’s Microsoft Teams Direct Routing service, complete the Phone Number Porting Request Form: Phone Number Porting Request Form.
Attach a copy of the current provider’s phone bill (if available).
If the organization needs to redirect missed or after-hours calls to a shared voicemail distribution group, set up the group in advance.
Follow Steps 1 and 2 in this guide: Setting Up a Microsoft 365 Group for Shared Voicemail.
Provide Webvault with the name and email address of the voicemail group.
Provide a suitable day, date, and time for the cutover/activation of the Teams service.
Webvault will coordinate the activation accordingly.
To ensure all users can receive calls at the time of cutover, pre-install the Microsoft Teams application on all relevant desktops and mobile devices.
Verify that users are correctly licensed for Teams before installing the application.
