Overview

This guide explains how to configure email notifications in Veeam Windows Backup Agent.  Proper configuration ensures you receive backup job status alerts via email.

Prerequisites

  • Veeam Windows Backup Agent must be installed and configured.

  • Internet access for email delivery.

  • Access to WebVault’s SMTP server: mailrelay.webvault.com.au (Webvault internet connection), or access to another SMTP server (if using a third-party ISP).

Configuring Email Notifications

  1. Open Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows

    • Launch the Veeam Agent control panel.

    • Click on Menu (≡) and select Settings.

  2. Navigate to Email Settings

    • In the Settings window, go to the Enable Email Notifications section and Check the box for Enable email notifications and then choose Configure and test.

  3. Enter SMTP Server Details

    • SMTP Server: mailrelay.webvault.com.au (or alternative: mail.yourprovider.com.au)

    • Port: 25 (default) or 366 (webvault alternative if needed) or 587 of using alternative provider.

    • Authentication: Not required (leave username and password fields blank if using a Webvault internet service.)

    • Use Secure Connection: Uncheck if experiencing issues with email delivery

  4. Configure Email Recipient

    • In the To field, enter the email address where notifications should be sent.

    • Optionally, enter a sender email address in the From field.

  5. Save and Test Configuration

    • Click Test Now to verify that the email settings work.

    • If successful, you should receive a test email.

Troubleshooting

1. Verify SMTP Server Connectivity

  • Check that your ISP or firewall is not blocking port 25.

  • If blocked, use port 366 or port 587 instead.

  • Ensure your internet connection is active.

2. Disable Secure Connection

  • If the email test fails, go back to settings and uncheck Use Secure Connection.

  • Retry the Test Now button.

3. Check Firewall Rules

  • Ensure the firewall allows outbound traffic on port 25 or port 366.

  • If using a corporate network, consult IT to allow SMTP traffic.
