If you receive an email from the offsite backup server with the subject "Reminder: Scheduled Backup Missed," it means that one or more of your scheduled backups have not executed correctly. Webvault monitors scheduled backups and notifies you if they are missed, allowing you to take corrective action. Ensuring that backups run as scheduled is critical to maintaining current data protection.
This guide will help you troubleshoot common issues preventing the Ahsay Offsite Backup Manager (OBM) from running successfully on Windows 10 and Windows 11 machines.
Verify Software Installation
Ensure the Ahsay OBM software is installed on your computer.
Open the software by navigating to:
Start > Programs > Ahsay OBMLog in to the backup server and check the interface.
Manually run a backup by clicking the Backup button and following the prompts. If it runs successfully, other issues may be preventing scheduled backups.
Check Backup Schedules
Ensure your computer is powered on and connected to the internet when the backup is scheduled to run.
Adjust power settings in Control Panel > Power Options to prevent the computer from shutting down, hibernating, or entering standby mode before the backup completes.
Verify Time and Timezone Settings
Open the Date/Time settings in the Windows taskbar.
Confirm that both the timezone and daylight savings settings are correct.
If daylight savings is not applicable in your region, disable "Automatically adjust clock for daylight saving changes."
Apply changes and reboot your computer if necessary.
Check for Hostname Changes
If your computer’s name or WINS hostname has changed recently, backups may fail.
Recreate the backup set or contact Webvault support to update your computer name in the backup system.
Restart Backup Services
Open Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services.
Locate the following service:
Ahsay Online Backup Manager ServicesRight-click the service and select Stop.
Navigate to the following directory and check for a "running" file:
C:\Program Files\AhsayOBM\ipc\Scheduler\If the "running" file exists, delete it.
Restart the backup service or reboot your computer.
Review Log Files for Errors
Open the log files located in:
C:\Program Files\AhsayOBM\log\Use Notepad or another text editor to review logs for errors.
Additionally, check the scheduler logs:
C:\Users\YourUsername\.obm\log\Scheduler\The debug.log file should show a countdown to the next backup. If missing, the scheduler may not be running.
Disable Antivirus Interference
Some antivirus software may block the execution of Java-based backup scripts.
Temporarily disable your antivirus and attempt a manual backup.
If the backup runs successfully, adjust your antivirus settings to allow Ahsay OBM processes.
If needed, consider switching to an alternative security software that does not interfere with backup operations.
Check Disk Integrity
Run a disk check in Windows 10 or Windows 11:
Open File Explorer > Right-click C:\ drive > Properties > Tools > CheckFollow the prompts to scan for and fix errors.
By following these troubleshooting steps, you can identify and resolve issues causing missed backups in Ahsay OBM. If problems persist, contact Webvault support for further assistance.
