Configuring Network Printers and Scanners to Send Email

Creation date: 3/02/2025 9:50 PM    Updated: 3/02/2025 11:16 PM

This tutorial explains how to use Webvault's SMTP relay service for sending emails from your network printers, scanners, or multi-function devices, you must be using a Webvault internet service.

SMTP Server Settings

Configure your device with the following SMTP settings:

Setting Value
SMTP Server mailrelay.webvault.com.au
Port 25
Authentication None (no username or password required)
Encryption TLS (optional) or None

Network Configuration

If your device is not configured to obtain network settings via DHCP, ensure that you check and manually set the correct gateway IP and DNS settings as outlined below before you can send emails.

  • Gateway IP: Set the gateway IP to the internal IP address of your internet router to allow the device to route traffic to the internet.
  • DNS Settings: Manually configure the device DNS settings so it can resolve internet domain names. For DNS server IPs, search the Webvault Knowledge Base for "Webvault DNS settings".

Troubleshooting

If the device is unable to send emails, try the following:

  • Disable any encryption settings (e.g., disable TLS) and attempt to send the email again.
  • Restart the device and ensure all settings are saved.
  • Verify network connectivity by testing internet access on another device using the same network.
  • Confirm that port 25 is not blocked by any local firewall settings.
