Microsoft Exchange Email Setup in Gmail on Android Phone

This tutorial explains how to setup your hosted exchange mailbox service on an Android mobile phone or tablet using the Gmail App.  If you have a standard IMAP or POP3 email account DO NOT use this tutorial.

NOTE: Before beginning check your device has internet access or adequate cellular coverage.  Make sure you have the latest updates for Gmail using the Google App Store on your device by searching for Gmail in the App Store and running the update - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.gm

1. Locate and open your Gmail app on your phone.  It may by in the Google folder.

2. If this is your first time setting up an account you may see the welcome screen.  Click Got It to continue.

3. The device will now list your email accounts.  Your devices Gmail account is likely to be listed at the top.  Click the Add another email address option.

4. Now choose the email account type.  Select Exchange and Office 365.

5. Now enter your full email address.  You must spell your email address exactly correct for the process to work.

6. Your device will now query the email server for more information.  This should only take a moment.

7. Your device should then ask for more information.  

Scroll down to the server settings section and specify your DDOMAIN\Username settings in the field provided.  This will be in the format CLOUD13\username as shown.  You must enter your username exactly.  Make sure you use a backslash character between the domain and username.   

Now enter the server address exchange13.mailsolutions.com.au 

Leave the port as the default 443.  Now click Next.

8. After a few moments your account will be ready to use provided you have entered the correct details.  Click Done.

9. Now if you open the Gmail App on your Android Phone you should see an additional account listed.   To view all your emails click the Take Me to Gmail button.

10. Once inside Gmail you can view all your emails by clicking the Menu Icon in the top left corner and then choosing All Inboxes.  Mail from all your accounts inboxes will then appear screen. 

Alternatively you can switch accounts by using the Account Icon in the top right hand corner.  In the screenshot below the exchange account is selected.
